Garage Floor Painting Tips
Pristine Painting and Decorating helps homeowners and business owners with a variety of painting in Lombard IL. One of our services that has grown in demand over the years is garage floor painting, also known as garage floor epoxy coating. Years ago, people would talk about looking for a way to protect the cement garage floor from the oil, crud, and other dirt caused by vehicles brought into the garage. This goes double for those who work on their own car or have a serve as an auto mechanic. Think about it, even with oil dry, getting the floor looking good again is almost never going to happen. It wasn’t until more recently, however, that the materials have been readily available to epoxy coat garage floors.
While Pristine Painting and Decorating will handle epoxy coating for garages, there are some things that are best to do beforehand.
- Inspect for existing epoxy coating (this will need removed)
- Also, latex and polyurethane paints don’t allow for epoxy coating to seal properly (these will need removed)
- Clean oil, grease, and other stains thoroughly (industrial degreasers are the best way to go)
- Scuffing and rubber residue will need removed
- Seal or patch cracks and chucks in floor
Of course, we here at Pristine Painting and Decorating can and will help you with many of these tasks. And, if you are just moving into a new building, the problems should be non-existent. Having kept up on your garage floor over the years, you should also be able to minimize prep time. If you are moving into a building previously owned by someone else, you may have your work cut out for you.
